First, a Quick Word About the Boston Celtics
Let me first say that while I’m not exactly a fan of the Celts, I respect and admire their history, including last year’s championship run. Having said that, it appears as though age and injuries are catching up with them in 2009 and their quest to repeat looks more and more like a pipe dream.
Savor every minute of success left in this group, Celtic fans, because I don’t foresee another trip to the finals with this crew, to say nothing of actually winning one. Danny Ainge is facing a long, slow decline now and short of another blockbuster deal (and how many of those usually happen?), things aren’t going to get any rosier soon.

The Straw That Almost Broke the Camel’s Back
Of course, I am referring to the trade that never happened between the Denver Broncos and the New York Jets. Much to everyone’s surprise, The Chicago Bears won the Cutler Derby by mortgaging their future on the thin-skinned pigskin hurler. For the princely sum of two first round picks, a third rounder, and starting QB Kyle Orton, the Bears now have another starting QB…and a fifth round pick. Not a bad day’s work…if your name is Josh McDaniels.
Now the New England Patriots should still have the best QB in the AFC East this year and the Jets still have a bunch of unknown guys wearing red jerseys at practice.
As they say, “Close, but no cigar.”

Interesting Statistic I’ll Bet You Didn’t Know
The Patriot RB with the highest two-year rushing TD total is Curtis Martin with 28 TDs in 1995 and 1996.

My draft prediction
I am going to stick with this prediction right up until I am proven wrong. I still say Bill Belichick & Co. will trade two of their second round picks for a mid’ to late first round selection. That would give them two first round picks and one second. Still not a bad haul.
